Com més gran és el motor, més potent és el cotxe i, per regla general, és més gran. No té sentit posar un motor de petita capacitat en un cotxe gran, el motor simplement no pot fer front a la seva massa, i el contrari també és inútil: posar un motor gran en un cotxe lleuger.
